Seek Him

Seek the Lord and His strength; Seek His face evermore!

1 Chronicles 16:11

King David was anointed as the king over all of Israel. In 1 Chronicles 16, As his first act, King David brought the ark of the covenant back to Jerusalem, which symbolizes the presence of the Lord. King David decides to celebrate this momentous occasion. He appoints leaders for worship and prayer. He offered Sacrifices; he distributed food to all the people. He then delivers a beautiful Psalm of Thanksgiving, through which he gives a series of commands. A couple of them include, “Seek the Lord and His strength; Seek His face evermore.”. Israel fought many battles, and finally, they were at peace for the moment. King David was exhorting the people of Israel to seek the Lord and His strength continually because he knew that the battle they won was not final; there were more battles to come.

Similarly, in our lives, we find ourselves in various battles; after winning the battle and being at peace for the moment, we also need to continually seek the Lord and His strength because God didn’t leave us alone in the battle. By having this heart of worship and thanksgiving to the Lord, we can face the battles of the future, knowing that God took care of the previous battle, and He will take care of this one too. Amen!
